Hello weekend, I’ve been waiting for you! And hello October, I love you. Here are a few things to do if you’re in LA, and something to do even if you aren’t!
- Remember I suggested this Mick Rock photography exhibit at Taschen Gallery a couple of weeks ago? I went. It’s epic. If you are in Los Angeles, I highly recommend it. The Taschen Gallery space is gorgeous, and the exhibit is amazing. It’s not just David Bowie, but includes other rock & roll legends like The Rolling Stones, Lou Reed and even some Elvis. It runs through October 11. Go.
- If you like crafty & handmade, this weekend is the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair. I used to take part in this event when I had my business, and it is one of the best local community events out there. Saturday & Sunday from 10 am – 6 pm on Valley Drive between 15th & 21st Street. There are booths with handmade items, food items, live music and more. After the fair, you can stroll down to the pier or take in the fabulous shops and restaurants on Manhattan Beach Boulevard.
- Do you like pie? Sunday, October 4 is the KCRW Annual Good Food Pie Contest at UCLA Fowler Museum. I’ve never been, but it sounds tempting, delicious and sinful.
- Nationwide! The Martian is opening in theaters today! I’ve been dying to see the movie since reading the book! I hope it lives up to the hype, I have very high hopes!
That’s it for now! What are your plans for the weekend? What’s happening in your town?
