It seems like so many women change their style as they get older, most opting for bold and colorful, with screaming patterns and huge logos. If you’re comfortable with that, fantastic. The strange thing is that I’ve noticed, as I’ve aged, that I’m more likely to reach for the classics.
I don’t know when this started, but I’m drawn more to timeless style (with a bit of edge). One of my favorite online stores for simple, understated and elegant is Everlane. Last year, I bought my first piece from them, the Swing Trench in Navy and I love it. It’s perfect for the milder winters we have in Southern California when you need a topper, but don’t want to be bogged down with something heavy. Their style is minimalistic and their price point is very affordable.
Here are a few pieces I would love to add to my wardrobe this season:
I love this simple white silk blouse – they have several other styles, some with collars, but I think the collarless style draws the formalness of silk down a notch, making it a little more casual.
Everyone should have a button down or poplin shirt in their closet, it’s a staple! I have several in white – the black gives it a bit of edge, which I love.
Seriously, could there be anything more classic than a wide leg pant? Channel your inner Audrey Hepburn – this is such a pulled together look (I would copy this entire outfit!)!
Black flats are classic, and I really think necessary in every closet. I wear them frequently, and am always on the lookout for a timeless and unadorned pair to add to my collection. I love the pointed toe on these, I really think they make your legs look longer and slimmer, and who has a problem with that?
What are you coveting this season?
