Have you ever created a vision board? I’m not talking about Pinterest, I’m talking old school, foam board, and paper. Don’t get me wrong, I love Pinterest, have spent countless hours perusing it, have found so much inspiration, information, and ideas from it, it’s ridiculous.
This is different.
I remember reading The Secret a couple of years ago, and one of the concepts is to create a vision board. I didn’t do it. I felt like all my pretty boards on Pinterest serve my purposes and it was my giant vision board. End of story.
Last week I started reading the The Miracle Morning (which is fabulous, by the way) and the gist is that the first hour you are awake is dedicated to helping you plan your day, your dreams and be more productive. I don’t want to get into more because that book can become an entire blog post, but suffice it to say, I made a vision board.
It was perfect timing too. I had stacks of magazines that were laying around, and since I am in a bit of a decluttering mood, I went through them and pulled out images and phrases that resonated with me. Then, I went through those and started laying them out. My foam board is only 11 x 14, so I didn’t have a large amount of space (which was good for me, less overwhelm) so I had to edit my images & phrases ruthlessly.
The underlying theme was consistent.
This is what I love about being almost 54, having grown children, a flexible career and a partner I am crazy about spending time with. This is our time! Travel, explore, adventure. Celebrating the everyday and enjoying the moment.
If you’re unsure of your calling for 2017, I urge you to try this exercise. As you go through images & phrases, you’ll realize what is important to you and what you want to accomplish this year.
What’s your vision for 2017? I’d love to know – share it in the comments!
